AM Class - Intro to Modern Floral Embroidery

Join Kristen Gula, of Gulush Threads, as she dives into the world of modern floral embroidery and pattern making:

In the Intro to Modern Floral Embroidery workshop, learn the basics of hand embroidery, how to give it a modern twist, and then complete a modern floral embroidery piece - taking the designs provided (or using a design of your own*) and applying your own creativity to make it truly unique!

Attendees of the Modern Floral Embroidery workshop will:

• Cover the basic of embroidery (materials, basic techniques)

• Learn Kristen’s favorite (and most used) hand embroidery stitches

• Learn Kristen’s tricks and hacks to making embroidery less frustrating and more fun

• Learn how to transfer an embroidery pattern to fabric (both light & dark fabrics)

• Start stitching one of the four unique modern floral designs provided

• Learn Kristen’s preferred backing technique to finish the embroidery in a hoop (& the many ways you can display them outside of a hoop)!

Kits will be provided and will include everything needed to learn embroidery (and then stitch your own piece for display): 6” wooden embroidery hoop, embroidery needle, embroidery snips as well as your choice of embroidery thread and fabric. Kits will also come with a canvas drawstring bag to take your project and materials home!

*If you decide to bring your own design/pattern, make sure to have it printed out in black and white (preferably a black and white outline), so transferring the pattern is easier.

PM Class - Advanced Modern Floral Embroidery (Must Take/Or Have Taken Intro Class)
Time: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Cost (per person): $236 CAD

Join Kristen Gula, of Gulush Threads, as she expands on the art of modern floral hand embroidery:

In the Advanced Floral Hand Embroidery Workshop, learn new hand embroidery stitches & techniques (bullion knot, woven wheel, etc), explore turkey work & stump work, learn how to use an Ultra Punch Needle Set, & begin incorporating these new techniques (while applying your own creativity) towards a new modern floral embroidery piece (I will have a few patterns available*)! 

Attendees of the Advanced Modern Floral Embroidery workshop will:

• Learn some new advanced hand embroidery stitches, techniques, and tricks (some stump work & turkey work will be covered, etc) 

• Learn how to use an Ultra Punch Needle with embroidery floss

• Incorporate these new advanced techniques and freestyle stitch/punch a floral design

Kits will be provided and will include everything needed to learn embroidery (and then stitch your own piece for display): 6” wooden embroidery hoop, embroidery needle, embroidery scissors, Ultra Punch Needle Kit as well as your choice of embroidery thread and fabric. Kits will also come with a canvas drawstring bag to take your project and materials home!

*If you decide to bring your own design/pattern, make sure to have it printed out in black and white (preferably a black and white outline), so transferring the pattern is easier.
