Kristen is a self-taught fiber artist from St. Louis, MO who took her love for hand embroidery to the next level by founding Gulush Threads in 2013.

Botanicals, mostly florals, are the main focus in her work as she takes a modern twist to the age-old medium. She lives by the motto of ‘creating more with less’ by painting with thread instead of using an encyclopedia of stitches. Although she is mostly known for her hand embroidery floral work, she has been known to dabble in needle felting and punch needle (and loves incorporating all of them together)!

In 2016, Kristen began teaching hand embroidery to the masses and has traveled all over the United States & Canada, sharing the art of Modern Embroidery with anyone willing to pick up a needle.

She has even found ways to teach those across the world with the publishing of her first book 200 Embroidered Flowers (which you can find online and in stores) as well as launching her Youtube Channel this year! You can even learn from her directly via her Patreon where she goes live exclusively for her patrons (every day, M-F, for an hour) covering anything and everything related to her work, her business, & home life!

She resides with her two children & husband Danny (along with their new blue heeler, Nebby, & four chickens). She spends most of her time hustlin’ (needle in hand) and enjoys sharing her passion for design with others via social media and in person at workshops!

All of the items (physical and digital) that are available through Gulush Threads are created by Kristen in her home studio. She uses original designs and quality materials in all of her work. Head on over to The Gulush Blog to read The Meaning of Gulush where Kristen explains the origin of the name Gulush as well as why she values originality over anything else in her work.
